Print and Etching Gallery
This series came about at the end of college days but the beginning of COVID. I found myself feeling beyond anxious and found a lot of solace in self care, especially hair care. It was subconscious but the tryptic is a reflection of what I was feeling and wanting.
This print series was inspired by the small, discarded moths and insects that resided in the corners of my art studio. I wanted to include a more accurate visualization of what the moths look like and then I also wanted to play with the rapid movements of their wings which I replicated using iraditc and clustered line work.
This project started as a photograph I took while in Galway, Ireland. I etched the image into a copper plate . Using tea and dirt I altered the paper that I was printing onto to better reflect the textures found in the river. Taking it a step further I wrapped 5 rocks in the finished prints, taking time and care as though they were gifts.
Pushing the imagery even further I added some fabric I thrifted that imitates water movement and added some materials from Ireland in glass bottles to imbue their energy to the installation.
